High DTC Return Rate? Use Fulfillment Data to Reverse-engineer Product Selection

When a DTC store's return rate climbs, many first blame imprecise ad targeting. But fulfillment data often signals earlier: if a SKU's return notes repeatedly say does not match description or runs small, it points to the product page or the physical item - not traffic.

1. Pull return reasons by SKU

Have the warehouse categorize return reasons by SKU (damage / mis-ship / does not match description / size), tracked over two consecutive weeks - your top problem SKUs become obvious. This data is more real than review sections.

2. High damage rate? Check packaging first

If one product type's damage rate is clearly above others, look at packaging and boxing method first, not at switching suppliers. Youmanman Cloud Warehouse supports custom boxing, vacuum sealing and corner protection - much damage is fixable through packaging.

3. Frequent mis-ships? Audit picking

Mis-ships cluster around multi-spec products, usually because picking lacks a second check. Hand picking and labeling to the system - far steadier than the human eye.
